Canada’s Best Coaches to Share their Expertise around the Alberta Nordic Skiing World Cup in Canmore

Ski CenterNovember 20, 2012

The following is a press release from the Alberta World Cup Academy.

The Alberta World Cup Academy (AWCA) coaching staff play an essential role in our National Nordic Skiing Success.  The AWCA was developed to offer developing athletes a means to improve their Nordic skiing technique and physical capacity.  Many of the AWCA athletes are now representing Canada in the world cup circuit.  The week following the world cup the AWCA is planning to run a Camp for the general public.  The aim of the camp is to transmit the knowledge of these elite level coaches to the general public and allow the general public access to a level of Coaching and Technical development that would not be normally available.  The Camp is being held at the Canmore Nordic Center Between December 20th and 23rd 2012.

This Camp project was piloted last year with excellent feedback and success.  This year’s camp makes even more sense bringing the AWCA back to its Alberta World Cup roots.  It is not so much the AWCA coaches ability to push the developing athlete to the highest level that will help participants in this camp but the experience of the coaches critical eye that will benefit every participant.  Feedback is an important part of this process and AWCA coaching staff plans to utilise both experience and technology to assist in helping the average nordic skier.  The camp is planned to not only cater for the Masters athlete, but all levels of athlete that want to improve their technical efficiency.  This is not for the complete beginner but for those who want to build on their current skiing ability.

Registration for this camp is now live through Zone4 and further information, programming and pricing can be found at www.canmorexcskicamp.com. Revenue generated  from the camp goes toward AWCA programming and coaching development.  The Camp had an intensive 4 day option for improvement of both skate and classic ski techniques and a 2 day skate technique only option on Dec 22 and 23rd.
