The New York Ski Educational Foundation (NYSEF) is excited to announce their new and improved Nordic Skiing Winter Term Program for the 2017-2018 Season. The mission of NYSEF is to provide opportunities for athletes of all ages to reach their potential in snow sports – alpine skiing, freestyle skiing, snowboarding, ski jumping, cross country skiing, nordic combined, and biathlon – through professional guidance and financial support.
NYSEF currently has an advanced Winter Term Program specific to alpine and freeride skiing. With new staff developments and local partnerships, this Nordic program is recharged. This program allows aspiring student-athletes the opportunity to pursue their athletics at an advanced level while continuing remotely in their home school’s academic curricula, providing an avenue to excel academically and athletically.
There is no other program providing skilled coaching and qualified tutors in world-class Olympic venues (located in the heart of Lake Placid). Plus, it is the most affordable Winter Term option in the east!
If you are not convinced, ask our alumni. Nine NYSEF Alumni participated in the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia. Their journey continues on the World Cup circuit with their respective US National Teams, and sights set on the 2018 Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea. Other NYSEF athletes have moved on to become members of National Teams, Junior World Championships and have won Gold at the World Championships, Junior World Championships, NCAA Championships, and Olympic Winter Games.
Due to Lake Placid’s Olympic training venues, current NYSEF athletes have the unique opportunity to interact with and learn from their role-models on a regular basis.
In an effort to get the complete winter term experience, we are offering a full winter option starting December 3 and running through March (the end of the race season). This program is designed for athletes to take full advantage of what NYSEF and the Lake Placid Training Center have to offer. This program is tailored towards athletes that wish to race at the Junior National level and beyond. The race calendar focuses on all Junior National qualifying races with the New York State Ski Racing Association (NYSSRA) and the New England Nordic Ski Association (NENSA).
