(Press release)

Little Bellas, a national organization dedicated to helping young women realize their potential through cycling, announces the Birkie Weekend Camp in Hayward, WI, Saturday, August 12th at the Highway 00 Trailhead.

The Birkie Weekend Camp is an all-girls adventure  program designed to get girls hooked on the sport of mountain biking. The one-day program will focus on improving skills and having fun.

“We’re so excited to be bringing the Little Bellas program to even more girls this year,” said Little Bellas executive director Sabra Davison. “Over the last ten years we’ve seen how learning to ride, and working with mentors and other girls can change girls’ lives. We can’t wait to get back on the bikes this summer. To be connected with the Birkie is a big deal and, as a nordic skier myself, I know the cultural weight anything around this trail bears. We can’t wait to bring more girls on bikes to such a well loved place.”

Kristy Maki, American Birkebeiner Ski Foundation Operations Manager added, “The American Birkebeiner Ski Foundation is excited to partner with Little Bellas to bring the Saturday BirkieCamp to Hayward, WI.  The ABSF encourages everyone to live a healthy, active lifestyle and this program is a great step to getting more girls out on the trail.  We hope girls come from all over to learn from great female mentors what is possible and how much fun being active on bikes can be!”

Registration for the weekend program is now open. More information can be found at LittleBellas.com.
