The comment section exists for one reason: the cross-country ski community knows things, and the conversation under a story is often as good as the story. These rules keep it that way. They are enforced — our sister site FasterSkier has run its comment section under essentially these rules for years.
The rules
- Stay on topic. Comments must address the subject of the article. Comments that stray from it will be removed.
- Debate ideas, not people. You are welcome to disagree with other readers — address the issue they raised. Personal insults directed at another reader, in any form, will be removed.
- Keep it civil. No name-calling of any kind, no profanity. Uncivil or inappropriate comments will be removed.
- Stick to facts. Comments that are potentially libelous — including accusations not supported by facts — will be removed.
Accounts and identity
Commenting requires signing in with your Endurance ID — the same account you use across the Endurance Center network. We encourage commenting under your real name; this is a small sport and a real community. Accounts created to evade moderation or impersonate others will be removed.
Moderation
Moderation decisions are made by our editors and are final, though we are human: if you believe a removal was a mistake, email matthew@fasterskier.com and a person will look at it. Repeat or serious violations may result in losing commenting privileges.
