Ski Center is published by FasterSkier, Inc. We are a small, independent media company, and our approach to privacy is simple: we collect as little as possible, we keep what we collect to ourselves, and we never sell it. We built this site without third-party advertising trackers, and we intend to keep it that way.
What we collect, and why
Nothing, if you just read. You can read every story on Ski Center without an account. Our servers keep standard technical logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) for security and performance, and we use privacy-respecting, aggregate analytics to understand which stories people read. None of that identifies you personally to us, and none of it follows you around the web.
Your region, if you choose one. To show snow conditions near you, we may suggest a region based on a coarse, one-time estimate from your connection, and we ask before going any further. Your choice is stored with your Endurance ID when you are signed in, and only on your own device when you are not. We never request or store your precise location.
Your email, if you sign in. Signing in uses Endurance ID, the shared account system for the Endurance Center network of sites. We use your email to send sign-in links and codes, and to know who you are when you use features that need an account (such as commenting). Endurance ID is operated by FasterSkier, Inc. — your account is shared across our own network, not with anyone else.
Cookies
We use cookies for exactly one thing: keeping you signed in. There are no advertising cookies, no cross-site tracking cookies, and no third-party analytics cookies. That is why you do not see a cookie consent banner here — there is nothing to consent to.
What we never do
- We never sell or rent your personal information.
- We never share it with advertisers or data brokers.
- We never use third-party behavioral tracking on our pages.
- We never request your precise location.
Advertising
Ski Center is supported by industry partners and readers. Ads on our sites are served first-party through our own platform, without third-party tracking of you. Sponsored or partner content is always labeled as such.
Where your information lives
Our services are hosted in the United States. Account data is stored with our infrastructure providers under standard safeguards, and only the people who run this company can access it.
Your choices
You can ask us at any time what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account and its data. Email matthew@fasterskier.com and we will handle it — a person, not a form.
Children
Ski Center is a general-audience publication and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will change the date at the top and, for anything meaningful, say so plainly on the site. We will not quietly weaken it.
